The end of the season is fast approaching, which means we need the RSVPs in for our championships asap. I would like to get those submitted by next Tuesday before I leave for out of town
Unfortunately getting a last chance meet scheduled is not looking great. The main hiccup is getting someone to run our timing system so that the times can count. I know there will be some disappointed kids and I am hoping I can get you parents to help me keep it positive for them. I always try to encourage all the kids to focus on their own improvement and times, and to not compare themselves to others. It is great to have goals, to do your personal best, and most importantly HAVE FUN! At the end of the day those who are close to an "A Cut" will be more likely to place and get awards in the B meet.
Below is a file with the information on the championship meets, including a list of swimmers who have qualified for the A meet. ALL 13 and over swimmers attend the A meet.
Typically, every year I ask a few B meet swimmers to swim in relays at the A meet. This happens when I don't have enough kids in a particular age group, who have qualified for the A meet, to form a relay. Swimmers who do this, ALSO swim their own events at the B meet. This year I am trying something new and asking for volunteers now. So, if this is something you and your swimmer would be willing to do, please let myself (coach Megan) know. I will let those who will be needed know next week when I have the entries finalized.
*I did go thru all the times including the Spring Lake to check for any qualifications. If you think a time was missed, please email me at coachmeg.ghsc@gmail.com
Final Note
We do typically have an end of the year celebration; we haven't had a big one since before covid. I personally don't have the time to plan one. I need a parent or group of parents to take this task on. In the past we have done various things including someone's backyard, Pottawatomi park, cafeteria at school, a church's community center, etc. We've done potluck style, pizza, and ice cream bar (to give you some ideas).
PLEASE let me know ASAP if you would like to do this:)
